Setting up a roof top tent can be a bit tricky, but with the right guidance, you’ll have it up and running in no time. Ideally, you’ll need 2-3 people for the installation process – it makes things a lot easier, 3 people will be better especially for larger vehicles.

First things first, make sure your roof racks are properly installed and secure. The middle section (not counting the side plastic pieces) should be at least 73cm long. And double-check that the left and right sides are balanced, with the same length.
Lift up the Tent
Now, time to lift that 65-75kg tent up onto the roof! Having 3 people is best, as it can be quite unwieldy, especially on taller cars. If it’s just 2 of you, make sure you’re both around the same height for easier maneuverability. Decide ahead of time how you’ll tackle the lift.
Remember, the side with the two locks should be facing the back of your vehicle.
Iron Plates Preparation
Next up, locate the small iron plates and screws inside the black bag. Put two screws into one plate, just enough to fit snugly on your roof rack’s width as there are 4 holes for you. You’ll need at least four of these prepared depending on the number of the roof racks and silver rails. Usually 4 plates
Initial Installation of Iron Plates
One person can then push/lift up the tent, while another slides the iron plates into the silver rails where they meet the roof racks. The roof racks should be located between the screws.
Measurement of Distances
Measure carefully now – check the front-to-back and left-to-right distances to ensure everything is even and centered. This is crucial for a secure, stable fit.
- Front : from the front roof rack to the front end of the silver rail
- Back : from the back roof rack to the back end of the silver rail
- Left : from the silver rail to the left end of the roof rack
- Right : from the silver rail to the right end of the roof rack
Make sure both sides front and back have the same distance.
Make sure both racks left and right have the same distance.
Fixing the Iron Plates with Bolts
Apply the iron plates to the screws, fastening the bolts with the tools provided. Don’t over-tighten, just enough until you see the plate start to bend a bit. Then you will have a well-installed roof top tent on your roof racks.
Access to the Tent
Finally, open up the tent and you’ll find the ladder inside for easy access. If you’re having trouble reaching the top, our ‘Car Door Step Hook’ might be a handy addition.
Uninstallation Tips
For removal, we recommend a 3-person approach, as the tent will come down heavily off the racks.
