Differences between series?

You may notice our rooftop tents are divided into two series: TOX and KAR. There are some key differences between them.

The TOX series does not require a ladder to support the tent after deployment. According to Greek law, rooftop tents are considered camping gear and camping is generally restricted to designated areas within city limits. If you camp outside these areas, you could face a fine of up to 3000 euros because it is seen as placing a permanent object in a public space, like a ladder, camping chairs, and tables. However, since the TOX series does not need a ladder for support, you are only considered to be parking, even if you are inside the tent. The most you could be fined for is illegal parking, depending on the interpretation of the law by the police. This advantage allows you to park in spots with great views, even within city limits.

On the other hand, the KAR series usually requires a ladder for support. Some models may not need a ladder, but this can risk damaging the structure and bending the pivot. However, the expanded sleeping area in the KAR series is significantly larger, which is more appealing to overlanders who venture into remote areas and do not have to worry about camping restrictions.
